Die-casting vacuum melting chamber with pouring funnels - mounted on sector for alternate use and subsequent cleaning within chamber

A die casting installation comprises a pressure-tight casing defining a vacuum melting chamber which accommodates an electrode holder arranged above a melting pot. A pouring device is located under the pot and has funnels, one of which is inserted into a hole in the shell of a pressing chamber which connects the melting chamber and a casting chamber. Cleaning devices for the funnels are provided in the melting chamber. One half of the press mould is secured on an immovable vertical plate and the other half is mounted on a movable vertical plate. The movable plate travels over horizontal guides. Used for casting precision blanks from high-melting and highly reactive metals and alloys, e.g. based on Ti, Zr. Casting can be conducted without depressurizing the casting installation for a long time which increases the output. No manual labour is required for replacing the funnels. The funnels are cleaned alternately without disturbing the vacuum in the melting chamber while simultaneously feeding molten metal from the pot into the pressing chamber.
