A device for the preparation of a liquid control solution comprises an insoluble carrier matrix and, incorporated therewith, a control composition releasable therefrom upon contact with a predetermined quantity of solvent to provide the control solution. The control composition can include at least one physiological fluid component or an industrial or other non-physiological fluid component or a compound capable of simulating said component when in a solvent. The physiological fluid component may be present in normal or pathological amounts. |
