The vehicle windscreen washer has one or more nozzles connected to a vessel of liquid via a motor-driven pump. The motor (6) coupled to the pump (5) is reversible, the switchgear (9) containing a time delay, so that after liquid discharge has stopped the pump runs in to opposite direction automatically for a set period. The pipe (7) between nozzles (8) and vessel also form a non-interruptible return pipe. The pump and motor can be mounted above or directly on the vessel, and the pipe can be insulated against heat loss.
