A seal for a bearing comprises a flexible nylon element 90, Fig. 1, which sealingly engages in the space between a pair of L-shaped members 70, 76, mounted on the stationary and rotatable parts of the bearing respectively. As shown in Fig. 1 a seal of S-shaped crosssection is mounted at each end of the bearing between members 76 which are held in position on the inner race 22 by means of collars 28, 30 and members 70 which are held in position on the housing 40 by snap rings 41, 42. In a modification, Fig. 6, the flexible element is bowshaped, the outer and inner arcuate portions 112, 114, engaging the radial leg of the member 70 and the arched centre portion engaging the opposite member 76. In another modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the flexible element is arcuate, the outer and inner edges engaging the axial legs of the members (70, (76) and the centre portion engaging the radial leg of the member (76). |
