A ventilation device which can be mounted adjacent or within a ventilation slot formed in a wall or in a window or door frame to permit controlled ventilation of a room. The device comprises a casing (6, 7) which has air inlet and outlet openings (15, 8) and which houses sound insulating material, (23, 24, 27) specially shaped to form a tortuous passage for air to flow through the casing between the openings. The casing comprises a body portion (6) having rear, upper and lower walls, (14, 16, 17) and a cover portion (7) pivotally connected to the body portion to permit access to the casing interior. To prevent, or at least substantially to reduce heat loss from the room to the exterior via the device, thermal insulating elements (18, Fig. 4) (19) are interposed at the regions where the rear wall (14) adjoins the upper and lower walls, (16, 17) thereby to interrupt heat flow and avoid the formation of cold bridges. <IMAGE> |
