The fan blades have a chordal angle increasing from hub to tip and have a ratio of chord to pitch which ranges from about .92 to 1.05 at the tip and from about 1.0 to 1.28 adjacent the hub. This enables the required air flow to be achieved by a fan which is sufficiently reduced in diameter to enable the tubular body of the dryer to be held comfortably in the hand without the need for the normal handle.
