A metal composite comprises a core or base layer 10 of copper, a layer 11 of aluminum alloy coated with pure aluminum 12 and a layer 13 of stainless steel bonded to the aluminum layer. In an example, copper and aluminium sheets are heated to from 300 DEG +800 DEG F, joined and reduced by 20 to 70%. After heat treatment the aluminium surface is mechanically cleaned and bonded to a stainless steel sheet with a first reduction of about 2% followed by a second reduction of from 5 to 25%. The sheets are joined by rolling. The product is free from orange peel effect, and suitable for the manufacture of cookware. <IMAGE> |
