<p>An antihelminthic agent contains, as active ingredient, an aryloxy acetyl benzimidazole deriv. of formula (I), or its (where R1 is alkyl, allyl or propargyl; R2 is u-3C alkylene or -NH-CO-R4; R4 is 1-3C alkylene; Z and R3 are H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or nitro; m is 1-4, n is 1-5, X is either not present in an (in)organic acid). The agent canbbe used to treat helminthic disease cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, poultry, dogs, hunting and laboratory animals. (I) are of low toxicity LD50 = 4.8-9.9 g/kg body wt. Suitable doses are 0.05-0.5 g/kg p.o. The cpds. have a low comutation coefficient and the animals do not become accustomed to them. (I) are not allergic or teratogenic and in therapeutic doeses have no effect on the antitoxic function of the liver. (I) also inhibit the toxic effect of CNS stimulators of caffein corasol and strychnine and prolong the effect of depressives, of chloral hydrate and hexenal.</p> |
