The die (4) is incorporated in a press for the folding of long metal sections, having two formative faces (7, 8) one (8) of which can deflect longitudinally by virtue of a discontinuous support system. The latter face is incorporated on a flexible blade (9) spanning horizontally between supports (13, 14) at longitudinal intervals, the arrangement compensating angular inaccuracies associated with the folding of long pieces. The counter face (7) may be similarly constituted, and preflexure may be effected by cams, by wedges, by jacks or by screws (11, 12). The blades may be fixed by srews (10) through to a support, and their desired deflected profile may be established empirically.
