A position detector is for local service trains and uses units at defined locations on the track receiving characteristic audio signals from each vehicle and relaying them by radio or wire to a central control where they are decoded. - It enables considerably simplified operating procedures in close working local traffic systems. The audio frequency combinations of the different transfer characteristics are formed of series of tones corresp to numbers coinciding with the train identification number.
