The fine comb is designed to remove nits (eggs) and adult lice from human hair and has teeth with a rough-textured external surface. The teeth (3) may be a solid mixture of a plastic e.g. polymeric material with an abrasive powder. The power may comprise acutely angled particles of silicon or emery. Alternatively the teeth may be of metal with the rough surface obtained by physical or chemical treatment. The interteeth ways may have parallel sides with chicanes, and the interval between teeth may be adjustable. In the latter case the unit may comprise two similar superimposed combs (1, 2) capable of relative sliding over a distance equal to the interval between teeth (3).
