Fire-retardant polyolefine compsn. contng. on polymer wt. 0.4-5% Sb cpd. catalyst and is not 3% ester of an aliphatic acid and a mono- or dihydric phenol. Either the aromatic or aliphatic part of the ester is perchlorinated so that the Cl-content of the ester is not 45 wt.%. The esters are cheaper than Br-contng. cpds.; are more compatible than chlorohydrocarbons, not being extruded; and stable at processing temps. The polyolefine is esp. polypropylene or high- or low-density polyethylene. The ester is ROOCR' R'COO-R"-OOCR' or ROOC-R'"-COOR, where R, R" are 6-20C aryl, R' is 1-20C alkyl and R"' is 2-20C alkylene. |
