1476839 Terminal arrangement for storage cell M B GERSHMAN E M LAMEDMAN V A LOBANOV M B SHAPOT and S S AXELROD 3 Dec 1975 [3 Dec 1974] 49719/75 Heading H1B An electric storage cell comprises a plastics housing 15, a plurality of electrodes 2 of opposite polarity arranged in respective groups in the housing, the electrodes in each group being connected to a common terminal 12, a pair of recesses 6 in the exterior top of the housing adjacent opposite sides of the housing, the outer side wall 8 of each recess together with the adjacent side wall 7 of the housing defining an upstanding projection through which one of said terminals 12 extends, with a first portion 13 of the terminal located outside the housing and a second portion 12 located inside the housing, the upper edges of said portion 13 being at substantially the same height as the top 11 of the cell. The terminal may have a horizontal part 14 as shown, to make part 13 and cell wall 7 copolanar, thus facilitating assembly of a battery by bolting together terminals 13 of adjacent cells; a filler/gas vent 11 is provided, and the cell may be an alkaline Ni-Fe or Ni-Cd cell or a lead-acid cell. |
