An expansible joint between two steam generator wall portions each consisting of tubes sealed to one another by welding, comprises an expansible plate 1 formed of skew parallelograms, inclined with respect to the plane of the plate, said skew parallelograms having adjacent sides of unequal length and are located so that at the corners 3 where four adjacent parallelograms meet two of the angles are obtuse and two are acute, and webs joining the plate to the tube portions (see Fig. 2, not shown). The webs, which are of equal thickness to the walls of the tubes and are of greater thickness than the plate, are cut from a strip of metal 4 so that the resulting parts 5 and 6 have edges which correspond in profile and inclination to the faces of the parallelogram. The plate 1 can either be gripped between the edges 5 and 6, or can be just welded to the single edge 5. |
