1,169,165. Mowing machines. MASSEYFERGUSON-PERKINS Ltd. 21 Dec., 1966 [23 Dec., 1965], No. 54752/65. Heading A1F. Each of tile fixed fingers of a reciprocating mower comprises a rear section 16 attachable to the mower-bar 10, an intermediate section 17 having an upper face 23 with a central depression 24 therein and providing cutting edges 26 for co-operation with the knife-bar, and a front section 18 having a rearwardly-facing wall 39 defining the front limit of, and extending upwardly from, the upper face of the intermediate section. The central depression 24 may be a simple concavity having two terminal edges 26 or it may be, as shown in Fig. 3, a downwardly-stepped depression, in which case two additional edges 26 are provided for co-operation with the moving blades. At the lower end of the wall 39 in the front section is a slot 40 which receives the end of a spring- clip 15. The clips are U-shaped in plan having two limbs, each of which enters a slot 40 in a finger, the rear corners of the clip being secured to the bolts 13 which secure the fingers to the mower-bar 10. Held by the same bolts is a wear-plate 34 which supports the rear edge of the knifebar 33. In a modification (Figs. 8 & 9, not shown) an upstanding portion of the intermediate section has its upper face coplanar with the face 23, and the wearplate is omitted. |
