The radioactive components are delayed mechanically and adsorbed and to reduce the size and complexity of the plant, the two operations are combined. A first adsorber stage filters out the relatively short half life products and the main stage combines mechanical delay and adsorption due to its form of construction i.e. concentric cylinders in which the gas flow alternates in direction through the adsorbent filler, and the longer half life products are filtered out in this main adsorber stage. |
