The method of editing a cine film includes the following successive operations. Transfer the film material onto a video tape. A video tape editing system is used to produce an edited video tape. This is designed to show both the edited version of the filmed scene and the corresponding border numbers. The original film is then edited so that it corresponds with the video tape. The filmed material is transferred onto the video tape (13) so that the numbers of the photographic edges and the film are transferred at the same time on the video tape (13). The border numbers (61) transferred are used as a reference in the operation (20) of editing the film original (10).
