The pulverised, granular material, solutions, suspension and pasty materials are brought into contact with each other or with a gas for their drying. The geyser type system used requires relatively little blowing energy. Sticky materials and materials with wide grain size range can be processed. The vessel (1) of the plant has vertical transporter screw (5), arranged within a vertical channel (3). The housing within which the screw and the channel are arranged, has perforated bottom (11) and laterial air supply channels (8, 10). The vertical transporter screw (5) does not project beyond the top surface of the material charge (2). This screw is driven by motor (12) at the bottom of the unit. The air enters the process vessel through blading which imparts it a swirling motion.
