Frequency diversity pulsed radar with high detection probability - has at least two one-bit quantisers in separate channels with outputs connected to OR=gate preceding extractor

The diversity radar system consists of two frequency channels (A, B) connected to single-bit quantisers (1, 2). The outputs are combined in an OR-gate (3). The output signal of this is passed to a target extractor, which in this case is a travelling window detector. Unlike the conventional form of additive combination where the detection probability is low due to the signal/noise ration of one channel affecting that of the other, the digital target extraction method does not suffer from this defect. If the signal is absent in one channel, this does not reduce the signal/noise ratio of the other since the threshold level is not exceeded from the point of view of noise spikes. A detection probability of 82% is claimed.
