Water to be purified is delivered from a high level to the bottom of a cell for anodic oxidation, and is made to flow from below upwards between the electrodedes. The water is fed down a vertical passage into a heading chamber at the side of the cell, which opens into a diffusion chamber. This in size uniformly from the front to the back of the electrodes, and the feed passage opens into the heading chamber some distance from the wall of the chamber opposite to the diffusion chamber. Used to elaborate a proposal to feed the water for anodic oxidn. from below and to extract it from above the electrodes, so that the water moves with constant speed during the electrolytic treatment. At the same time, a compact and cheap design prevents disturbance of the process, e.g. by gas bubbles.
