Pressure filtration unit consists of two flat plates held together by clamps. These serve as a housing for the filter, the membrane being held in the flange. Above the membrane is a distribution plate with an annular gap around the outer edge. Its upper surface inclines upwards from the centre. Feeds enter above this plate down a hole which is inclined at 45 degrees towards the centre. Below the membrane the lower plate has a support structure for the membrane. Permate leaves from the base plate while concentrate leaves via a hole up the centre. For use in reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration etc. Gives a filter with mechanically sound, uniform and complete utilisation of the total available membrane surface.
