In a glass melting furnace, a 1st pressure source(100) is connected to a 1st gas carrying means(19) to conduct the flow of gaseous medium and a pressure regulating measn(18) is provided to balance the 1st pressure with the pressure head of glass over nozzles. At a 2nd pressure greater than the 1st pressure, an automatically controllable gas delivery system is actuated by each bubbler nozzle (10-17) in a predetermined sequence and for a predetermined length of time.
