Sealing glass containers with foil type closure - applying both pressure and heat to closure via hydraulic medium and intermediate flexible layer

Containers made from a material which remains relatively rigid when heated, e.g. glass, are sealed using a foil type closure which is connected to the container's opening edge by the application of both pressure and heat. At least the pressure is supplied by the closure via a liquid. The heat for the sealing process is transmitted at least partially through the hydraulic medium which in turn conveys it to the heat sealing surface through the intermediary of a flexible intermediate layer. This intermediate layer can adapt itself to the shape of the container's opening edge.
