Circular saw blade with extended service life - has cutting edges covered with wear-resistants layer of hard chrome by plating or electric welding

The blade tongues (14) with radially running cutting edges each have a layer (24) applied to their leading and side surfaces (23, 22) which is harder than the material of the saw blade (10). The layer is electrolytically applied hard chrome. Regions of the tongues are chromeplated to a thickness greater than that of the remaining saw blade surface. Such a wear resistant layer can be applied by other means, e.g. electric welding. The layer increases the service life of the cutting edges.
