The development drum has an internal carrier spiral formation for regulating the flow of processing solution used for processing the film or paper in the drum. The drum is of the type horizontally rolled. The photographic material (17) is laid on a carrier on the inside of the drum wall (10). An internal core (18) wraps around 80% of the internal dia. and has a section (19) of carrier material joining one end of the internal core wrap to the outer wall at the point where one end of the photographic material lies (34). The section (19) joining the internal core to the outer wall and carrying the photographic material is transparent material.
