PURPOSE:To reduce the number of the strings striken by hammers by moving a frame assembly together with damper mechanisms in a transverse direction by way of pedal mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When a pedal 43 is treaded, a frame 6 is parallel moved in a transverse direction by way of the roller followers 55, 56 of an actuating rod 47. This causes the damper mechanism provided in the frame 6 to move, thereby deviating the string dividing pitch P and action deviding pitch Q and reducing the number of the strings to be striken by a hammer 71. Hence, even in an upright type piano, weak tones similar to those of a grand piano may be produced without changing of timbre, touch feeling. |
