<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a highly selective chelate resin useful for desalination of sea water, and recovery of a metal having a valence, by crosslinking a carboxymethyl group-modified polyethyleneimine with a polyepoly compound in the presence of a soluble metal salt in an aqueous solution, and by eluting the adsorbed metallic ions with a mineral acid. CONSTITUTION:A polyethyleneimine having a molecular weight <=10,000, preferably about 70,000, wherein 10-70%, preferably 30-50% of hydrogen atoms directly bonded to the N atom are substituted by carboxymethyl groups, is crosslinked in an aqueous solution, by adding a polyepoxy compound at normal temperature to 50 deg.C in the presence of a soluble metal salt, e.g. nickel chloride, and by heating at 95-110 deg.C. The resulting gel is pulverized, and adsorbed metallic ions are eluted by a 1-5N, preferably 2-4N mineral acid, e.g. hydrochloric, sulfuric acide, etc. to give a highly selective chelate resin.</p> |
