Seismic exploration method with enhanced survey results - has sensor array for sensing response of seismic horizons to emitted seismic waves

The method of seismic exploration includes sensing the response of the seismic horizons to emitted seismic waves, by using a sensor array of aperture of a number of seismic sensors. The sensor array or aperture is larger than the dia. of a circular region, termed the Fresnel zone for the deepest seismic horizon of interest in which all ray paths for seismic waves at a highest frequency of interest differ in phase by less than one-half wavelength. With an aperture of this size, the responses of seismic horizons sensed by the sensors differ from each other in phase by less than one-half wavelength. Individual sensors in the array are spaced from the next adjacent sensors by less than or equal to one-quarter wavelength of horizontally travelling seismic noise waves at the highest noise frequency of interest.
