Automatic control gear for burners of refractory-lined furnaces - uses thermostatic system to override photoelectric control

The automatic control equipment for burners heating a refractory-lined furnace, partic, a refuse incinerator after-burning chamber, uses a signal (6) from a temp. sensor (5) in the chamber (2). This operates an actual valve indicator (7) working in conjuction with a manually adjustable (9) desired valve unit (8). If the actual valve rises above the other, the circuit of a photoelectric flame monitor (10) is broken, causing closure of the oil supply valve (11) to the burner (3) and stopping of the pump (12). Reversal of this temp. relationship results in re-activation of the burner.
