Signals are displayed on subscriber instruments. A store is provided at the subscriber station, with a storage area allocated to each display element in which the signal to be displayed is stored. A tripping circuit is provided at the subscriber, which cyclically reads out the signals for the display elements. There is a connection device which connects a generator sending a corresponding signal to the respective display element.
