<p>NEW MATERIAL:Polysaccharide M-30-C. Characteristics thereof are as follows. Specific rotation: [alpha]<20>D=+48.4 deg. (0.1 wt./vol. % aqueous solution); average molecular weight: 10<5>-10<7>; elemental analysis: C 37.7%, H 5,8%; color reaction: positive to anthrone reaction and phenol-sulfuric acid reaction; acidic polysaccharide; IR: 3450(S), 2940(M), 1620(M), cm<-1>, etc.; solubility: soluble in water, 1N nydrochloric acid, etc., insoluble in ethanol, etc.; viscosity: 1000-3000 cps in 1.0 (wt./vol.)% aqueous solution at 20 deg.C; white and unstale solid; colorless and clear in an aqueouw solution; etc. USE:Decholesterolizing agent. PROCESS:Pseudomonas polysaccharogenes M-30 (FERM-P No.4054) is cultured in a medium which contains methanol as the sole or a main C source. After removing the cells, tec. from the cultured mixture, acetone is added to the mixture to obtain a crude polysaccharide, which is purified by removing protenis therefrom.</p> |
