Appearance: pale yellow powder; elemental analysis: C 61.72%, H 7.4%, N 10.13; UV absorpiton spectrum: lambda<ethanol>max238 (E 568), etc.; main band in IR absorption spectrum (KBr method): 3390, 1670, 1605, etc. cm<-1>; specific rotation: [alpha]<22>D +39.2+ or -5<o> (c=0.5, ehanol); solubility: insoluble in petroleum ether, etc., slightly soluble in benzne, etc., easily soluble in ethyl acetate, etc.; color reaction; positive to Dragendorff reaction, etc.; amphoteric substance; stability: slightly unstable in acidic conditions, stable in neutral conditions, unstable in basic conditions. USE:Antibiotic havung strong sctivity against Gram-positive bacteria and tubercle bacilli.
