The device is for winding shaped coil springs and has a frame-fitted spindle with a mandrel, which is connected with a turning drive. Application rollers press the spring onto the mandrel. The mandrel has a helical shape which corresponds to the internal shape of the cross-section of the spring and the pitch of the generated winding. It is mounted so that it can move axially. A copying roller is rigidly connected with the application rollers in the direction of the axis of the mandrel. This copying roller acts with the helical profile of the mandrel and is arranged at a distance from the rollers which represents a multiple of the pitch of the windings of the mandrel.
