The press has connecting rods which are readily fitted on the crankpin. The fitting operation is facilitated by a window in the connecting rod at the crankpin end. The connecting rod (9) actuates the press ram at the top and is driven by the crankpin at the lower end. The connecting rod has a window type opening (17) with side member (18). The crankpin is held between the top bearing block (11) which is inserted in the window and bolted on the lower part of the window (10). The bearing block and the interface (19) are not loaded during the upwards working stroke.
