1347933 Desalting protein solutions NESTLE SA 21 March 1972 13086/72 Heading C3H A process for desalting protein solutions, for example of fish protein (e.g. cod), dried yeast or lactalbumin, comprises exchanging the cations present in the solution for ammonium ions by contacting the solution with a cation exchange resin in the ammonium form and eliminating the ammonium ions from the solution thus obtained by vaporization as ammonia. The ammonia may be removed by vaporization, e.g. spray drying or by stripping. Preferably the process is carried out using a macroreticular resin at 50-80‹ C. and pH 9À5-12À5.
