<p>A sound absorbing enclosure (3) round the engine is also attached to the crankcase. The enclosure (3) has a horizontal flange (9) at the bottom which is held between the top flange (5) of the oil sump and the bottom flange (4) of the crankcase. Vibration and sound insulating gaskets (7, 11) are placed between the crankcase and enclosure flanges and between the enclosure and sump flanges. This allows effective air cooling of the sump without reducing the sound insulation.</p> |
