A laser distance measuring device tester enables exact testing of the laser receiver optical axis position wrt. the optical targeting device axis and of the distance meter counter circuit without requiring connection to the meter which may be installed in an amount vehicle. The counter determines the time lapse between laser pulse transmission and reception of a first (12) or second (22) echo pulse. The targeting device is for optical target sighting. Three echo pulse laser transmitters (10, 20, 30) are arranged at 120 deg. intervals about a circle perpendicular to the receiver axis and transmit pulses to the receiver in a delayed sequence in response to a transmitted pulse.
