Appts. used includes a heat treatment chamber in which is arranged a pair of vertically spaced rollers, the axis of one roller being inclined towards the axis of the other roller and in the direction of axial movement of the yarn which is wound several times about the rollers. During passage over the rollers the yarns are subjected to a blast of hot air from nozzles associated with a duct, the nozzles which are spaced vertically are provided in tubes. Alternatively, the nozzles may be formed by vertically extending partition walls of metal and the spacing between adjacent walls forms slots which extend in the plane of the windings of the yarn. Heat transfer is improved without increasing the size of treatment chamber.
