The device contains external electrodes, of which one can be connected to a tool with which a tooth is treated. The other electrode can be connected to one of the body parts of the patient. The device contains a source (1) for feeding the electrodes. The source (1) is constructed such that it supplies a stabilised current in conjunction with a low and likewise stabilised voltage. For this purpose, in addition to a current stabiliser (4) the source (1) also contains a parallel voltage stabiliser (5, 9, 10, 11) for the output voltage. The current stabiliser (4) contains a reference voltage source (6), said stabiliser being connected to the stabiliser for the output voltage (5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).
