The heald frame has two interconnected battens having bores, in which transverse plates for suspending healds on them are held. Each batten (1, 2) has, at the points of connection with the transverse plates (8, 9), portions (5, 6) which are bent inwards into the frame. The length of each transverse plate (8, 9) is equal to the maximum width (a) of the frame or it is somewhat smaller than this. A compact construction of the heald frame, which is necessary for use in wave-shed weaving machines, is obtained thereby. <IMAGE>
