PURPOSE:To provide a back-lash preventing mechanism for a shaft joint which can facilitate the relative alignment of joint members. CONSTITUTION:When a joint member is axially positioned and a fastening bolt 3 is fastened at that position, a concave joint 7 is finely driven counter-clockwise, as seen from the drive side, to an extent corresponding to the back-lash whereas a convex joint 6 is also finely turned clockwise to the same extent until their spline surface abut by the component of the force of the inclined surface of a sedge-shaped convex portion 82 of a convex member 8. If it is assumed that the angles of contact satisfy the relationship of alpha=beta and that the coefficient of friction at the contact surface of the flange portions 71 and 61 of the joints 6 and 7 is denoted at mu, then the relationship of mu <1/tanalpha. Then, in case the bolt 3 is fastened, the perpendicular component of force, which is generated by the inclined surface pressure of the member 8 as a result of the fastening force and which is applied to the bolts of the joints 6 and 7', is higher than the frictional force of the contact surface between the two joints so that these joints can be prevented from axial movements. Thus, it is possible to prevent the back-lash between the spline 43 of a driven shaft 4 and the splines 73 and 63. |
