The mains cable plug and socket connector has a sleeve socket in which a plug can be inserted. The plug part has the form of a longitudinally slotted sleeve receiving a cable core. The sleeve socket (2) is made radially springy in the region receiving the plug by a longitudinal slot (8) and its wall thickness decreases towards the slot. The sockets bore (4) is conical, matching the outer surface of the plug (3). The bore is eccentric to the outer cylindrical surface.
