Fuel pump (23) for motor vehicles is arranged inside the fuel tank (10, 11). The delivery pipe (22) of the pump extends upwards to an opening (13) of the tank. The opening has a bayonet closure (21) through which the pipe passes. A spring (25) is arranged on the pipe to urge the pump against the bottom (10) of the tank. The pump has a foot (26) ensuring a minimum distance (A) between the pump inlet and the tank bottom. The foot lies on the rotational axis (D) of the closure.
