<p>N-contg. linear polymer comprises >=40 mole %, based on total recurring units, of at least a recurring unit of formula: where Z is -SO2- or -CO-, p is 0 or 1, and when p is O, -Ar- is directly linked to -Y2-; Ar is an aromatic gp. of valency (2+q) with Y and -(Z)-p Y2 linked respectively to the nuclear C of the aromatic ring Ar; q is 0-4; r is 0-4 provided that the average of (q+n) be at least 0.2; Y1 and Y2 are independently -O- or -N(R1)-; R1 being H or monovalent or divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon gp., pref. H or 1-6C aliphatic hydrocarbon and may opt. be linked to R, or R1 of Y1 may be linked to R1 of Y2; R is an org. gp. of valency >= (2+r) and may have a valency equal to (3+r) or (4+r) according to the definition of R1, and W1 and W2 are independently primary amino gp. and N-contg. mono or disubstd. derivatives thereof. The polymers are useful for prodn. of permselective membranes and thermally stable fibres, films, coatings, etc.</p> |
