The snowchain is made from a series of hoops with double arms on each side of the tread to link into continuous chains. The cross sections are clad with elastic pads (15) for improved grip. The side sections clip together at the ends without requiring complex fitting tools or great manual force. The grips provide torque in deep snow or in mud as well as on ice. The separate sections are easily replaced when worn.
