Process is claimed for processing waste materials containing metals such as V, Ti or Cr or cpds. of these. The waste material is incorporated into the raw materials used for the prodn. of bricks to give determined colour effects, after which baking is carried out in virtually the same way that is used for the prodn. of red brick. The process makes use of waste material such as the slag resulting from the prodn. of iron and steel from vanadium-contg. ores, and which would otherwise be a source of environmental pollution. The additives are esp. useful in the prodn. of dark brown coloured bricks.
