Measuring probe for the continuous long-term electrochemical determn. of the O2 content in metal-, esp. steel- and cast iron melts, consists of a ZrO2 container, to be immersed directly in melt. The probe is used in partic. in continuous casting and ladle metallurgy. Long-term measurements can be effected also at high temps., e.g. >1700 degrees C ZrO2 addn. to powder mixt. maintains a correct activity of reference potential. Sintering of mixt. is prevented.
