The ligature setting instrument used in dentistry has two jaws (8) which grip the ligature positioned at the front of a sleeve (7), inside a spring (11). This sleeve is attached to a larger diameter housing (10) with two swinging latch arms (5) inside. The hooked ends of the latches engage sets of teeth on a spindle (2) through the mirale. When the housing is pulled back, a bulbous portion of each latch travels over an outer tube at the rear, freeing the spindle and allowing the jaws to open. A spring (9) inside the handle pulls the parts in this position, and rotation of the handle locks them by means of a locking pin (3) and a sleeve (4) over the joint region.
|
