[Also in Division F2] An insert 10 for insertion into a hole in plastics material (see Division F2) is made by engaging the corners of a hexagonal bar with a taper cutting tool to taper the bar from one end to the other, cutting grooves 30, 32, 34, 36 in the bar with a forming tool to form flanges 20, 22, 24 and 26, a pilot portion 38 and an undersurface 42 of a head portion 14 and partially cutting the bar behind what will be the head portion 14. A bore may then be drilled in the bar and a thread 12 formed before the insert is cut from the rest of the bar. |
