The method is for the formation of a clamp for flax, beans peas, etc. the vegetable plants (1, 3) being formed into one or more rows and the separate conduct of such strips so that the plants can be transported as a flat strip. Where flax is handled, the stalks are picked up in two rows with the plants pointing in the same direction, then separately conducted so that the seed pods on the stalks are pointing towards or away from each other, and the layers next to each other hang down from the tracks. Prior to the strips or rows being laid down in layers, the stalks on each strip are connected by a binder. At the clamp base, the stalks are formed so that a triangular cross-sectional air circulation passage (5) is formed.
